A Chic Ukrainian Influencer’s Top Style Rules

Don’t feel pressured into defining your style. Being a woman is all about being different and being yourself. Think about what you want to exude – for me it’s confidence, sexiness and power. It doesn’t matter if you wear a masculine suit or a romantic dress, it’s about how you feel in those things. Typically, the pieces I like are chic, feminine, sexy, classy and elegant.
Allow your style to evolve. I’ve always loved dressing up. I used to take my mum's clothes and heels, put on make-up and perform like a little superstar. I even had problems at school because of my outfits! I was always confident with how I looked and I’ve loved each phase of my personal style. It’s always changing – and that’s okay.
Upgrade your minimalist wardrobe. I’m not a complete minimalist – I like to experiment and mix things up – but my preferred colour palette is predominantly monochrome. To make it more interesting, I mix contrasting pieces and add in bright accents and accessories – be it in the shoes, bags or my outerwear.
Invest in classic designers and support young brands. Chanel, Saint Laurent, Loewe, Celine, Hermès, Miu Miu – they will always be worth the investment in my view, but I support emerging brands too. For example, small Ukrainian brands like Kulakovsky, Kachorovska and Shmelesvsky Hats. As someone who owns a small business, I know how helpful the support is.
Be yourself, choose yourself and listen to yourself. Don’t be afraid of trying something new, and don’t pay attention to other people’s opinions. Be brave – whether it’s with your style or in your life. Don’t copy anyone, be unique and wear what feels right to you.
Dress intuitively. I personally don’t have any specific go-to outfit formulas – I just create looks in the moment. I love that all the pieces in my wardrobe can be mixed, as it’s quite easy to get dressed in the morning. If you’re in a style rut, just relax and let your imagination run wild. Find the inspiration where you want but make sure you create the outfit in your own way.
Be selective with the trends you follow. I like trends but I don’t follow them all – and typically avoid anything that has become too mainstream. It’s about appreciating individuality – which is why I love vintage. Right now, I’m especially into vintage hairclips and always pick up a couple of new ones at the Sunday flea market.
Opt for timeless shapes and colours. My go-to summer look is the perfect mix of trendy and classic. I’d wear this for a summer dinner on the Côte d’Azur or Lake Como – but all the pieces can be worn with other wardrobe staples throughout the seasons and still work hard for me.
Look to your favourite brands for inspiration. The Jacquemus SS23 campaign is one I took a lot of inspiration from this season – the perfect blend of French chic and summer elegance. I think the brand plays with feminine energy well, always has fun with things like big hats, and it always nails its summer colour palette.
Focus on the accessories. Everyone says it, but accessories really are what give your looks a more interesting, personal feel. I have a few go-tos at the moment – including these Miu Miu slingbacks and Saint Laurent sunglasses. Pearls are always a chic addition, as are designer brooches. My favourites are from Chanel and Saint Laurent.
Know your occasionwear brands. At this time of year, my favourites are Cult Gaia, Christopher Esber, Aje and Zimmerman. For dresses, Nensi Dojaka is a recent discovery. Elsewhere, Helsa Studio – supermodel Elsa Hosk’s brand – deserves more attention. It does lots of simple pieces but with a sexy twist, which is so me.
Optimise cost per wear. While we’re all happy to wear big straw hats, sunglasses and beach bags on holiday, it pays to think about how else you can make them work in your wardrobe – especially in the city. I’d suggest trying them with a linen suit to maximise cost per wear at home as well as abroad.
