The Conscious Edit: February

In The Conscious Edit, we bring you the very best brands, products and initiatives from the world of sustainable fashion. Whether it’s a new label or an eco-friendly venture from someone we love, these are the conscious launches to know about this month…

The Denim Brand

One of our favourite denim brands, DL1961, has partnered with Recover on a joint initiative to create the world’s first high-performance, sustainable jean. The capsule collection includes styles named after female icons – examples include the Patti (Smith) and Bridget (Bardot) – while the campaign stars model and philanthropist Candice Swanepoel. For denim that’s sustainable every step of the way, look no further.

The Pyjamas

Honna London’s latest offering of relaxed pyjamas and pretty nighties has dropped just in time for spring. Made from the softest organic cotton, the natural fabric is woven, then dyed using azo-free dyes before being made into garments and packaged in drawstring bags (which are also made from fabric offcuts). Plus, everything is transported using zero plastic.

The Charity Tee

For the second year in a row Hesper Fox is supporting Hestia, a charity working to prevent domestic abuse and modern slavery. The brand is donating 25% from every sale of their Frankie t-shirts – designed in collaboration with London-based artist Frances Costelloe – to Hestia. Help spread some awareness by tagging @HesperFox and @Hestia_Charity and using the hashtag #LifeBeyondCrisis.

The Holiday Capsule

Inspired by Ibiza’s relaxed, cool vibe, resort brand Second Summer wants us all to live more sustainably, consciously and purposefully. All the linens are made using an eco-friendly reactive dyeing process, while the swimwear is crafted from Peta-approved cruelty-free materials and biodegradable yarn.

The Bag

We love a crossbody bag, and this style is currently only available on a 'made-to-order' basis (the timeframe is around six to eight weeks). Once your order is received, Frida Rome's artisans will hand-make your bag from soft-to-the-touch cactus leather and luxury eco-suede. Think of it as the kind of timeless piece that stays in your wardrobe for seasons to come.

As part of the range, you’ll find vintage-inspired fun, feminine pieces, all of which have been designed with the modern woman in mind. Everything is also hand-made to order at Chalsie’s home studio.

The Jewellery

Already synonymous with effortless, everyday style, jewellery brand Daisy London has collaborated with 4ocean to reduce the amount of plastic waste that ends up in the sea. For every piece sold, Daisy and 4ocean will work together to remove the equivalent of ten small plastic bottles from our planet’s waters.
