Cycling for Softies offers gentle routes, scenic stops and just the right balance of adventure and relaxation. On their four-night Lubéron Valley Vistas tour, you’ll start your holiday in the vibrant, art-filled town of St-Rémy-de-Provence before cycling through vineyards, lavender fields and orchards into the heart of the Lubéron. Riding predominantly on small, minor roads and designated cycle paths, daily rides range from 21km and 53km with one or two climbs per day – on days where the cycling is hillier, due to passing through or ending in hilltop towns such as Gordes or Rousillon, the distance has been kept lower. The final day's ride from Rousillon back to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is the longest ride but mostly downhill through the valley. If you are not sure about your fitness levels, choose one of their e-bikes to help you enjoy this tour effortlessly.
If You Want To Laze: On days when you are moving on to your next hotel, you do not need to cycle there. However, on all other days, your itinerary includes a loop ride, starting and finishing at your hotel. Of course, all the rides are optional, so you can opt to relax at your hotel or spend the day sightseeing whenever you like. One must-visit is the Musée Estrine in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, a museum dedicated to Vincent Van Gogh who spent his later years in this charming town, producing some of his most well-known works.

Where You’ll Sleep: After each day’s hike, you’ll return to somewhere peaceful and restful. The hotels on this holiday are all of a very high standard – each has a big comfy bed, plenty of space to spread out and an inviting pool to relax in. The welcome is always warm, and each place has plenty of local character. The last hotel near Ronda is a particular treat, a dash of luxury to end with, where the food is as local as local can be with the almonds, pistachios, figs, lemons, limes, oranges, quinces and apples all grown in the hotel’s orchard; they also make their own olive oil from a small grove. A feature of this route is that there are a number of two-night stays, which means less packing up than is usual on an inn-to-inn walking break.
